  • What if I want to skip one or more weeks of milk delivery?
It is no problem to skip a delivery, but please let us know (preferably at least a couple of days in advance) when you wish to skip.
  • May I use my own jar for milk?
If you have a wide-mouthed glass jar with straight sides and a solid plastic lid, you are welcome to use your own jar and skip paying a jar deposit. Otherwise, we prefer to use our own jars, since we know that they can be washed easily.
  • Do I need to wash my jar before I return it?
We need your jar to be returned clean, so that milk deposits will not be dried or spoiled and difficult to clean away later. However, we always wash jars again before we fill them with fresh milk.
  • May I pay with a check?
A check is fine, payable to Kristina Palumbo is easiest for us, but payable to Sunrise Farm is also fine. Some customers like to pay for a longer period, often a month, in advance. Others pay for items as they pick them up.
  • What about pickups when the weather is bad?
Our cows produce milk, without regard to the weather. If you need to delay pickup or want to cancel pickup because of the weather, just please let us know as soon as possible.
  • How is the drive to Sunrise Farm from Kirksville?
The farm is just a couple of miles south of Kirksville. All but the final few yards of the trip is on hard-surface roads. The final bit is gravel. Our driveway is gravel, and a bit steep. In the worst winter weather, many customers park at the bottom and walk up to get their milk.
  • How long does your milk stay fresh?
The milk or cream lasts about exactly one week. It is at its best on the first day, of course.
  • Can I ever pick up my milk early?
Milk subscribers have one or more dedicated days for milk pickup. If you are scheduled for Monday gallon pickup, on Sunday morning I will prepare a gallon of that day's new milk, put it into the freezer for fast chilling, and move it to the refrigerator with your name written on the side (with erasable marker). It will be ready in the refrigerator by around 11 a.m. Sunday, ready in the freezer (except for the chilling) by around 9 a.m. Sunday. You are free to come pick it up on Sunday, even though your official delivery day is Monday.
Ask or tell us anything!
